COURSE DESCRIPTION: As famed trainer John Farnam says–if you don’t know what you’re doing “holster work is the most dangerous thing we do with a pistol.”  If you know what you are doing and understand and apply the essential holster skills this course covers, working from a holster need not be dangerous.  This course is for those that already have their own pistol and Kydex-style holster.

A safe, efficient, accurate draw-to-first-hit is an essential skill for the responsibly armed citizen desiring to protect themselves and their loved ones. Understanding the principles of an energy-efficient presentation from holster (OWB, IWB, AIWB, Enigma) along with grip & platform essentials is where this course begins——it rapidly transitions to developing & practicing the skills needed to achieve an extremely efficient draw-to-first-hit without sacrificing accuracy and teaches the drills that can help you achieve a sub-second draw (if that is your desire in the future). Learn how to consistently meet the draw-to-first-hit time national standard for CCW holders and take home with you the knowledge, skills, and plan to maintain that standard.

Knowledge conquers fear.  Students enjoy this interesting, hands-on course because it emphasizes safe gun handling while developing the essential skills to keep, carry, and control a handgun in order to prevail should you be faced with a violent encounter. This course is valuable even for those that have no intention of carrying a firearm. Be prepared to be hugged, encouraged, and challenged by our all-woman instruction team as you meet other like-minded responsible citizens.

PREREQUISITES:
There are no prerequisites for this course but you do need to be comfortable with safely casing / uncasing your pistol, understanding and applying the firearm safety rules, loading and unloading, and shooting two and three round strings of fire.

WHAT TO BRING:
–eye and ear protection
–quality handgun and 3 magazines for your handgun
–100 rounds of factory ammunition for that handgun
–quality holster made of Kydex type material that is made for your specific handgun model–this is not something you’ll be able to find at local retailers–you will most likely need to order a holster from places like Phlster, Comp-Tac, Tier 1 Concealment, JM Custom Kydex, etc. (for safety reasons, we cannot allow “holsters” like the Uncle Mike sloppy nylon sack type holsters that fit a variety of gun models, or SERPA type holsters that require index finger manipulation to release the retention–if you have questions please email us at kaery@kaeryconcealed.com and we will be happy to answer your questions)
–lunch, snacks + drinks for yourself (there’s no vending onsite, an no stores nearby so please bring some nourishment for yourself)
–notebook and writing utensil – if you’re the note-taking type
–any other comfort items – feel free to bring anything you need to be comfortable
–please plan to arrive 10 minutes early for check-in

LEAD TRAINER, KAERY DUDENHOFER:

She has trained under some of the most respected and recognized leaders in the self-defense community to guide responsible citizens through the complex legal, moral, and social issues concerning use of force in self-protection.  In addition to teaching responsible citizens to protect themselves and those they love, Kaery works as a court approved expert witness and consultant for civilian defensive use of force cases.  Kaery and her husband, Eric, are the proud (and often exhausted!) parents of 7 children.  Away from the range and classroom Kaery spends her free time with family — conquering the laundry pile, cooking for 5 teenagers, camping, quad riding, reading, and water sporting.
