COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an entry level handgun course for the shooter with limited or no formal handgun training.
Through the course, students will learn firearm safety and solid gun-handling skills using the S.I.R.T. Training Pistol (simulated laser gun) as well as live-fire at the range.
We will learn safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; defensive ammunition options; Shoot-to-Live fundamentals and will have continued opportunities for skill development.
Students will be issued a course completion certificate that can be to apply for an Oregon concealed carry permit (WA does not require a certificate in order to apply for a carry permit).
Be prepared to be hugged, encouraged, and challenged by our all-woman instruction team. Registration required.
What is Included in the Course?
This is a 5.5 hour course with both classroom and range time where you will learn,
mental & situational defensive alertness
defense under stress
safe gun handling, storage, carrying
aggressive disengagement
handgun & ammunition operation
practical defensive marksmanship
safely drawing from concealment
practical pointers to make consistent concealed carry a reality
lawful concealed carry
During our time on the range, you’ll be under the care of supportive instructors who will be ensuring your safety and walking with you through every step of the shooting process.
If you have your own firearm that you like and that you want to use for the class, you’re absolutely welcome to do so.
If you don’t yet have a firearm or the one you have is not fun to shoot, no worries! We have many handgun models (that women prefer) that are available for rental. If you would like to rent a handgun, please email us and we will send you an invoice for the handgun rental and ammunition that you can pay in person at your class or online prior to your class.
All instruction, course materials, targets, and range fees are included in the class fee.
What to bring:
For our time on the range, you will want to wear: comfortable, closed toe shoes, a shirt with a “high” neckline – the type found on typical T-shirts is great (on the range we want to avoid low v-necks, or shirt styles with loose material around the neckline- this keeps us safe from the spent casings – which we’ll explain in more detail at our class), and some ladies like to wear a baseball style hat (not required)
eye and ear protection (if you don’t have any, email us to let us know and we’ll bring some for you)
your firearm (if you’re using your own)
extra magazines for your firearm if you have them
200 rounds of ammunition
snacks and drinks for yourself
The exact class location and driving directions will be emailed to you when you register for the course.
